For law firms in Cardiff
Law Firm SEO in Cardiff for Solicitors and Law Firms
Affirmed Digital provides law firm SEO for Cardiff solicitors: the partners and marketing leads who decide how the firm is found. This page is not a guide for someone trying to instruct a lawyer today, and it is not a list of well-known Cardiff firms.
Cardiff is the capital of Wales and a South Wales commercial and disputes market. The city centre, Cardiff Bay and the suburbs sit beside towns such as Penarth, Barry, Newport and Bridgend, each with its own high streets and its own searchers. A swapped-in city name is not a Cardiff strategy.
The useful work is to keep those markets apart, name the right building, and publish only what the partnership will stand behind.
Why are Cardiff city doors and South Wales towns different markets?
Law firm SEO in Cardiff works when the page names the door and the department a partner will stand behind.
Affirmed Digital is based in Portsmouth and works with Cardiff firms without a Cardiff office of its own. Your listing should show your door, not ours.
Cardiff is the capital of Wales. That is geography, not a strategy. It does not tell a client what you do or who does it.
Cardiff & District Law Society is the local law society for the city and its district. It is a useful room, not a reason to write "Cardiff solicitors" and stop.
Search follows the work. Commercial clients check the partner, the matter and the building. Individuals in Canton, Roath, Llandaff or Ely search the practice area and a map. Disputes clients want the court. Employment clients need the employer or employee path kept clear.
A homepage that lists forty services and the word Cardiff fails those readers. Local SEO for solicitors keeps the listing, the pages and the catchment in one place.
Cardiff Bay, the city centre around Park Street and the streets near Cathays Park are places a commercial or disputes team might sit. Name one only where you are.
Large national firms keep Cardiff offices. Treat that as a warning not to borrow their vocabulary, not as a model to copy.
One swapped-in city name is not a Cardiff strategy
If a page could name any other city in place of Cardiff and nothing else would change, it does not know Park Street from Cathays Park, or a Cardiff Bay office from a Barry high street. Do not publish it.
Three decisions before any new Cardiff URL
Which doors do you occupy?
The city centre, Cardiff Bay, a Cardiff suburb, Penarth, Newport or Bridgend are different offers. Name the doors clients actually use.
Which calls do you want?
Commercial, disputes, employment, injury, crime and family do not belong in one enquiry form. Keep the departments the partnership will accept.
Who is speaking?
Your pages speak to clients. This work speaks to the firm. Mixing the two makes both harder to trust.
Why does one Cardiff website miss the instruction?
A Cardiff firm usually misses the enquiry for a local reason. The site either pretends every client sits in the commercial core, or it lists every South Wales town and every department with the same sentence.
Capital-city commercial language on a district high-street practice
"Covering Cardiff" is not an address in the city centre. If the office is in Whitchurch, Rumney, Penarth or Barry, say so. Borrowing capital-city commercial vocabulary for a high-street crime, injury or family practice attracts calls you will turn away.
Newport or Bridgend offices forced through one Cardiff profile
A Cardiff headquarters, a Newport branch and a Bridgend meeting room used once a month are three places. Google needs the office the client will actually visit. Serviced rooms you do not use should not be pinned. Firms with more than one public door need multi-location SEO, not a footer full of postcodes.
Town pages that repeat one paragraph
Penarth, Barry, Newport and Bridgend are not interchangeable. A page that changes only the place name creates thin addresses nobody trusts. Publish a town page only where you have people or a genuine service area from a named office.
Injury, commercial and crime sharing one enquiry form
Those instructions need different conflicts checks and first calls. One shared form celebrates volume. It does not help a partner decide whether the firm can act. An injury team deserves its own route in, as our personal injury SEO page sets out.
Which Cardiff instructions deserve their own URL?
Use the Cardiff diary, not a menu copied from a larger firm. These groups justify a page only where the team exists and the partners want those calls.
Commercial and disputes in the city centre and Cardiff Bay
Owner-managed companies, lenders, public-sector suppliers and inbound investors do not search like a high-street client. Say whether you do the transaction, the regulatory issue or the dispute afterwards, and who has conduct. For disputes, say where claims are usually issued: Park Street lists money claims and High Court cases, not Cathays Park. Our corporate and commercial and dispute resolution SEO pages are the national shape.
Employment, with employer and employee paths kept apart
An HR lead and a dismissed employee should not land in the same inbox without a conflicts check. Give each a separate route and say which one you take. Your employment page should tell clients to follow the hearing notice rather than promise a building for every claim in Wales. Employment law SEO is the national shape.
Injury or crime from a suburban or town office
Canton, Roath, Ely, Newport and Bridgend are where many individuals still search. Say which office covers the work and how a first call is taken. A crime page should name the building the matter actually uses, not every court in the city. Personal injury SEO and criminal defence SEO only where those teams are real.
Family, with the building named once
Family clients want a named solicitor, the first-meeting arrangement and an office they can reach. Park Street is the family building; say so once. Publish this only where the family team exists.
Which Cardiff building should the firm's page name?
Cardiff spreads civil and family work, Crown Court work, and magistrates' and employment work across three buildings. "The Cardiff courts" alone is not ready to show a client.
Cardiff Civil and Family Justice Centre is at 2 Park Street, Cardiff, CF10 1ET. That is the building the finder lists for civil and family work, including money claims, housing, bankruptcy, adoption, childcare arrangements, domestic abuse and High Court cases.
Cardiff Crown Court is at The Law Courts, Cathays Park, Cardiff, CF10 3PG. That is the crime building for Crown Court work. Both postcodes start CF10. They are still different buildings.
Cardiff Magistrates' Court is at Fitzalan Place, Cardiff, CF24 0RZ. Spell it with the apostrophe, as the finder's page title does.
The Wales Employment Tribunal is on the 3rd Floor of the Fitzalan Place building, which the finder gives as Cardiff and the Vale Magistrates Court, CF24 0RZ. The finder lists claims against employers there. Your employment page should not say every claim in Wales is heard there. It should tell clients to follow the hearing notice.
The Cardiff trap is the three buildings. Park Street (civil and family, CF10 1ET), Cathays Park (Crown Court, CF10 3PG) and Fitzalan Place (magistrates and the Wales Employment Tribunal, CF24 0RZ) are different places.
A family page that says Cathays Park, or an employment page that says Park Street, has mixed them up.
HMCTS publishes Welsh-language contact routes for the Cardiff court buildings on Find a Court or Tribunal. That is a court service. It is not a rule about what your website must publish.
Park Street, Cathays Park and Fitzalan Place are three buildings
Write the name exactly as Find a Court or Tribunal does. Add the street or postcode once. That is marketing accuracy for the firm's own pages, not Affirmed directing a client.
Cardiff buildings to keep apart
- 2 Park Street: Cardiff Civil and Family Justice Centre for civil, family and High Court work. The hearing notice still governs.
- The Law Courts, Cathays Park: Cardiff Crown Court (CF10 3PG).
- Fitzalan Place: Cardiff Magistrates' Court, with the Wales Employment Tribunal on the 3rd Floor (CF24 0RZ). Not Park Street, and not Cathays Park.
What should a firm with more than one South Wales address publish?
Publish one honest page for each public office, and refuse a page for an address that is only a mail drop. Penarth, Barry, Newport and Bridgend are catchment statements or real doors. They are not near-duplicate pages with the town name swapped in.
Start with the Google Business Profile and the contact page. Categories should match the departments in that building. Our Google Business Profile work is that task.
Give each priority department its own URL from that office. Separate employer and employee routes where you act for both.
Content strategy briefs pages a fee earner will sign. Multi-location SEO is the plan when more than one public door is real.
Penarth and Barry sit in the Vale of Glamorgan, south and west of the city. Newport is its own city to the east. Bridgend lies to the west along the M4.
A real office gets its own page and profile. Travel-out from one Cardiff door gets one honest catchment statement.
Newport is the usual test. A Newport office with its own team deserves its own page. A Cardiff team that takes the odd Newport matter does not need a Newport page; it needs one line in the catchment statement.
Swansea is a separate market further west. Name it in the catchment statement only if the firm genuinely acts there. It does not need a page unless there is a door.
A Cardiff footer is not a South Wales strategy
Listing every town between Bridgend and Newport without a door or a team is how firms look identical. Name the offices you occupy and stop.
A first Cardiff publishing list
- One profile and one contact route per public office.
- Department pages with a named solicitor and the building.
- Employer and individual employment paths kept apart if you accept both.
- No town page without a real service note.
- Park Street, Cathays Park and Fitzalan Place kept distinct on the pages that mention them.
How should a Cardiff firm sequence the work?
Cardiff rewards a short sequence: choose the market, fix the listing, publish pages a fee earner will sign, then earn a handful of mentions you can defend. Mentions first, on a site that still says only "Cardiff", wastes the introduction.
Choose the market
City-centre commercial, disputes, employment, or a suburban or town practice in injury, crime or family. Keep what the partnership wants. Drop what you refer away.
Fix the entity
One public name, one phone and one address per office, repeated on the website, the profile, the SRA record and Find a Solicitor. Meeting rooms and headquarters are labelled as what they are. If a branch closes, its profile and page come down too.
Publish the pages
Each kept department gets the court it actually uses and a description of the first meeting. Content strategy briefs those pages so they can be signed. Commentary comes after, not instead.
Earn a handful of mentions
Cardiff & District Law Society, the Western Mail or WalesOnline, and The Law Society Gazette where you have a real explanation to offer. Digital PR and links means mentions you would put your name to.
What should Cardiff partners agree before more pages go live?
Use this in the partnership meeting before another Cardiff URL is commissioned. A line the firm cannot stand behind is a reason to pause.
- The page is visibly for the firm, and client pages are visibly for clients.
- The city centre, Cardiff Bay, the suburbs and the South Wales towns are not collapsed into one address.
- Each Google profile matches a door you occupy.
- Commercial, disputes, employment, injury, crime and family do not share one vague URL.
- Park Street, Cathays Park and Fitzalan Place are not confused.
- Employer and employee enquiries are separated if both are accepted.
- No town page exists without people or a genuine service area.
- Pricing conversations use Affirmed Digital's published pricing, not a number invented for Cardiff.
- Reporting can show office and department, not only a single Cardiff traffic chart.
How do Cardiff partners tell whether this is producing instructions?
Judge the work by instructions fee earners recognise: the right department, a client you can act for, and a note of which office and which page helped. Position tracking alone does not tell a managing partner whether the Cardiff diary changed.
Agree three or four enquiry types at the start: often a commercial instruction, a dispute, and one individual line such as employment, injury or crime. Each needs a "qualified" definition the fee earners wrote.
Local visibility is a supporting check: profile accuracy, indexed priority pages, and enquiries with enough detail to conflicts-check.
Review the figures with the department heads each quarter. If an office page brings calls the team refers away, change that page before commissioning another.
Cost sits on the pricing page, not in a Cardiff average. A suburban branch and a multi-office city-centre firm are different scopes.
The audit shows what the current site and listings already do. Scope follows that, including whether a Newport or Bridgend door needs its own treatment.
Report these, not a Cardiff league table
- Enquiries by department and by office.
- Which of those became a file, as the firm defines it.
- Profile accuracy for each public door.
- Mentions you are willing to put your name to.
